This is the latest incarnation of me (Walter Vannini) writing about mathematics and related topics. Previous versions were the essays on my website (still there at http://www.gbbservices.com/mathematics.html) and the yahoo group “Understanding Mathematics” (still there at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/understandingmath/). Both of these efforts eventually fizzled out, and in recent years my writings have been confined to private emails with friends.
Let’s see how this blog works out. My current thinking is that I’m going to go for frequent short pieces, rather than the longer essays I’ve done done in the past.
